As Zalgiris fan I can say that before the season Zalgiris never sets goal to play in play-offs We want that of course, but we know that we are not in position to require that from coach and team, simply cause our budget is one of the lowest in league. Our strategy is go game-by-game, concentrate fully on next one and give our best in it and see how it will go. When big teams are thinking about Final4, play-offs, they can divide games to more or less important, then for us every next game is the most important. Probably that’s one of the reasons why we were in the same Final4, play-offs or close to it. This season we didn’t make it, but it was still seen as quite good one, bearing in mind that we lost Jasikevicius before it. Anyway, next season is going to be very tough for us, cause we lost lot of money for not having fans in arena. So budget probably will be even more reduced. That’s why we might lose some key players like Grigonis, Walkup, Hayes, even Jokubaitis and newcomers might be lower caliber options. There were serious rumors about your former player Cavanaugh, whom Schiller coached in G-League too, he might replace Hayes… Now there are rumors about Giffey. I guess Schiller offers him starting role in EL team, cause most likely we will part ways with Garino, who is always injured. That might be intriguing for Niels as in Alba he is more like rotation player, coming from bench, right? So he can expect bigger role. Financially it’s hard to say, but Garino was earning here 350-400k. I don’t know how much our club could offer Giffey, but it won’t be bigger than that for sure. And of course Kaunas is not Berlin, in European map we are small industrial city, but we are city which breathes basketball, from organization to fans. Anyway, I hope Giffey will stay as your captain for many years to come. He is great rotation player, but I guess Zalgiris needs a bit different profile for a starting role. Cheers
