ECA board meets to start season

Hours before the start of the 2009-10 season, the Euroleague Commercial Assets board, comprised of team and league representatives, met at the Hilton Hotel in Tel Aviv to be briefed on recent commercial renewals in the competition. To open the meeting Euroleague representatives presented members of the board with changes in the competition by-laws, these changes seek to establish a closer working relationships between the teams and the league while emphasizing the importance of making a stronger push with regards to the marketing and the branding of the competition.
In the same meeting, board members were given an update with regards to television rights agreements that have been closed recently, giving the Euroleague broadcast coverage in 156 countries this season. Likewise, the board was briefed on the renewal of marketing agreements with major sponsors like Sportingbet and GNTO, the Greek National Tourist Organization, which deepens the relationship of Euroleague Basketball with those partners. The board was also told of improvements in the Euroleague.TV platform, whose live broadcasts resume today.
Members of the board where presented with the financial report from last season and the projected budget for the next one. Euroleague representatives confirmed that despite the global economic crisis, incomes for the past season have not been affected.
To finalize the meeting, the board was informed of the fact that this season the names of referees for Euroleague games will be made public the day before each game.
